Growing Together, every step of the journey. Quote from the PVES theme for the year.

Message from School Administration:

School is now fully in progress and our academic routines are well-established. Students are making friends and learning is happening throughout the building. At this time, teachers are assessing students using the Virginia Literacy and Language Screening System. By the end of this week, we will have reached the mid-point in our first grading period and interim reports will be issued by the start of the following week.

As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Traffic Pattern at PVES

map showing traffic flow at Pleasant Valley Elementary

Morning Drop-Off

1. Please enter through the lower entrance as you have been doing and pull up to the stop sign at the corner to allow more cars to be unloaded.

2. All traffic will be directed to turn LEFT ONTO THE NEW EXIT after dropping off. If that route becomes backed up, traffic will be directed to use the exit onto Pleasant Valley Road.

3. Please do not get out of your vehicle. If your child needs assistance unbuckling, do so once you have stopped or please teach your child how to unbuckle.

Afternoon Pick-Up

1. When forming the afternoon pick-up line, vehicles should continue to create a lane on the right side of the driveway leading up to Pleasant Valley Elementary from the lower entrance off Early Road.

2. Please do not block the space between the cones at the rear of the school until instructed to pull forward after all alternate school transportation vehicles have left.

3. An orange cone will be placed directly behind the last car in the right lane as an indicator to know the right lane is full. Once the cone is placed, please form or join the left lane.

IMPORTANT: Do not start a left lane until instructed to do so. We have buses and alternate transportation vehicles who need to leave prior to the left lane starting. Please continue to form the right lane until instructed to pass and begin the left lane.

4. All traffic will be directed to turn LEFT onto the new exit after picking up your child. If that route becomes backed up, traffic will be directed to use the exit onto Pleasant Valley Road.

5. Please do not exit your vehicle during drop-off or pick-up.

With the beginning of each school year, Virginia law requires that each school complete several safety drills throughout the year. We complete 4 fire drills within the first 20 days of school, along with 1 lockdown drill within the first 20 days of school. Also, students who ride school buses will complete a bus evacuation drill during the week of September 14.

Please take time to talk with your child about the importance of following the teacher's directions during all drills. These drills are meant to be helpful so that students clearly understand what to do in the event of an emergency.

Hello from Mrs. Woodward

Hello! I am excited about beginning my School Counseling Classroom lessons for the 2026- 2027 school year!. This year, I will be sharing topics the PVES School Counseling Lessons will focus on each month. During September, grades 3 -5 will focus on what makes a good friend, compromising and solving friendship conflicts. In grades K-2 we will learn about how School Counselors help us and strategies to solve friendship conflicts.
